The ExCite Project (Enabling SoCial Interaction Through Embodiment) has won the first European AAL Forum Award 2011. The project has been selected as the most promising among 80 EUropean projects. -Press report on the award here (external link) –ExCite Project page at Mapir website.

The mid-term review meeting of the Excite project was held on 6th and 7th February 2011 at the University of Malaga. A great opportunity to meet altogether!
Our mobile robot Sancho was presented in society at the Science Park of Granada. Sancho appeared at a press conference explaining his habilities and particularities. Then it mixed with visitors and onlookers.

The Roadbot, the vehicle designed by MAPIR for surveying roads’ surfaces, was officially presented on 16th November 2009. The rector of the University of Málaga and members of the Sacyr’s company and the regional goverment were invited to the event.
The PhD. student José Luis Blanco will present his PhD. Thesis the 13th November, entitled “Contributions to Localization, Mapping and Navigation in Mobile Robotics”. The defense will took place at the “Sala de Grados A” at “ETSI Informática”, and will start at 11:00am.
The Mapir group will take part in the European Project called “Enabling SoCial Interaction Through Embodiment” (ExCITE).
