Sopra Steria Award for Best Bachelor’s Thesis in AI
Our PhD student Eulogio Quemada Torres has received the first prize for Best Bachelor’s Thesis in Artificial Intelligence at the 4th Sopra Steria Awards, held in the framework of the 4th Andalusian Artificial Intelligence Congress in Granada on October 28, 2026. This year’s edition brought together 56 submissions from universities across Andalusia.
His award-winning project, “Sistema multimodal de interacción humano-robot basado en técnicas de IA”, was developed within our research group and presents a modular software architecture that combines facial recognition, speech processing, language models, and robot control to enable more natural human-robot interaction. The system was implemented and validated on Sancho, our social robot.
Eulogio graduated in Software Engineering from the University of Málaga with an average grade of 9.77/10 GPA, achieving an academic distinction in 31 subjects and earning the Extraordinary Degree Award “Profesor José María Troya”. He has recently started his PhD at MAPIR, where his research focuses on appearance-based visual robot localization using artificial intelligence, under the supervision of Javier González Jiménez and Francisco A. Moreno Dueñas.
Congratulations, Eulogio, on this achievement!
