My research focuses on developing advanced Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence techniques to enhance the cognitive abilities of mobile robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to my research work, I am actively involved in <strong>software development<\/strong>, with a particular interest in web programming and applying <strong>AI systems to optimize business processes<\/strong>. I have experience in designing microservice-based architectures, implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, and integrating AI solutions into web platforms to improve their performance and scalability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I enriched my academic background with an <strong>Erasmus<\/strong> exchange at the <strong>University of Padua<\/strong> (Italy), where I deepened my knowledge of advanced computing and AI. I am passionate about solving complex problems, exploring new technologies, and collaborating in multidisciplinary, international environments. 2024<\/strong><\/strong>, organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceautomatica.es\/\">Comit\u00e9 Espa\u00f1ol de Autom\u00e1tica (CEA)<\/a> and held in M\u00e1laga, I had the honor of presenting the paper <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.17979\/ja-cea.2024.45.10940\"><em>\u201cModelos a gran escala para mapeo sem\u00e1ntico en rob\u00f3tica m\u00f3vil\u201d<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (<em>&#8220;Large models for semantic mapping in mobile robotics&#8221;<\/em>), co-authored with <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1366\">Jos\u00e9-Ra\u00fal Ruiz-Sarmiento<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1792\">Jos\u00e9-Luis Matez-Bandera<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1536\">Javier Gonz\u00e1lez-Jim\u00e9nez<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this work, we proposed a method based on <a href=\"https:\/\/concept-graphs.github.io\/\">ConceptGraphs<\/a> that leverages <strong>Large Language and Vision Models<\/strong> (LLMs and LVLMs) to build open-vocabulary semantic maps, incorporating two key improvements: adaptation to state-of-the-art LLMs such as <strong>Gemini 1.5<\/strong> and <strong>ChatGPT-4o<\/strong>, and a <strong>refinement stage using the Reflection agentic workflow<\/strong>, which enables the model to self-evaluate and correct its own responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We validated the proposal through experiments in real-world environments from the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scan-net.org\/\">ScanNet<\/a> <\/strong>dataset, demonstrating its effectiveness in <strong>reducing errors<\/strong> and <strong>increasing the robustness<\/strong> of semantic mapping.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center\">\n<figure Marina (RBVM) 2025 \u2014 Almer\u00eda, Spain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Simposio CEA de Rob\u00f3tica, Bioingenier\u00eda, Visi\u00f3n Artificial y Autom\u00e1tica Marina 2025<\/strong>, held in Almer\u00eda, Spain, featured our paper <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.64117\/simposioscea.v1i1.38\"><em>\u201cSegmentaci\u00f3n sem\u00e1ntica de instancias de objetos empleando un vocabulario abierto\u201d<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (<em>&#8220;Semantic segmentation of object instances using an open vocabulary&#8221;<\/em>), presented by my colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=4113\">Macor\u00eds Decena<\/a>, with me as <strong>second author<\/strong>, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1366\">Jos\u00e9-Ra\u00fal Ruiz-Sarmiento<\/a> and  <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1536\">Javier Gonz\u00e1lez-Jim\u00e9nez<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work introduces <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/macorisd\/TALOS\">TALOS<\/a><\/strong>, a modular method for <strong>open-vocabulary instance semantic segmentation<\/strong>. TALOS combines three stages\u2014<strong>Tagging, Location, and Segmentation<\/strong>\u2014to accurately detect and segment objects beyond the fixed categories of traditional datasets like COCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qualitative evaluations <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">demonstrated that TALOS offers&nbsp;<strong>richer semantic labels<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>more precise masks<\/strong>&nbsp;than standard closed-vocabulary tools,<\/span> such as Detectron2, even in complex scenes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Mobile Robot Place Segmentation and Categorization Using Object Semantics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>European Conference on Mobile Robots 2025 \u2014 Padua, Italy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>European Conference on Mobile Robots (ECMR) 2025<\/strong>, held in Padua, Italy, brought together researchers and professionals from robotics and artificial intelligence to share new ideas and technologies for autonomous mobile robots. At this event, I presented the paper <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1109\/ECMR65884.2025.11163204\">\u201cMobile Robot Place Segmentation and Categorization Using Object Semantics&#8221;<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, coauthored with <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1366\">Jos\u00e9-Ra\u00fal Ruiz-Sarmiento<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1385\">Cipriano Galindo<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/mapir.isa.uma.es\/mapirwebsite\/?p=1536\">Javier Gonz\u00e1lez-Jim\u00e9nez<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper proposes a method to <strong>segment <\/strong>and <strong>categorize <\/strong>indoor spaces by clustering objects based on their geometric properties and rich semantic information generated by <strong>LLMs<\/strong> and <strong>word\/sentence embedding models<\/strong>, enabling more flexible and meaningful representations of environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experiments on the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scan-net.org\/\">ScanNet<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hkust-vgd.github.io\/scenenn\/\">SceneNN<\/a><\/strong> datasets demonstrate that this approach <strong>improves segmentation accuracy<\/strong> and provides <strong>more informative, relevant objects in a 3D environment represented by <strong>semantic maps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To reduce <strong>LLM hallucinations<\/strong> and enhance reasoning, the study introduces three <strong>agentic workflows<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Self-Reflection, Multi-Agent Reflection, and LLM Ensemble<\/strong>\u2014that iteratively review and refine the model\u2019s responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using semantic maps generated from the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scan-net.org\/\">ScanNet<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hkust-vgd.github.io\/scenenn\/\">SceneNN<\/a><\/strong> datasets, experiments show that reflection-based workflows improve object retrieval accuracy by <strong>up to 10 %<\/strong>
